Who said a hybrid can’t be handsome?

“Last night, frustrated that plug-in hybrids like the Chevy Volt are developing too slowly, Top Gear revealed its very own range-extender hybrid. Now, Autocar has conducted an independent road test to discover what we know already: it’s crappy.” Source: Top Gear’s “Car To Save The World” Independently Reviewed – Top Gear – Jalopnik

Subaru helps spread Christmas cheer

“A Subaru Forester is set to be driven all the way to Lapland to make a special delivery to Santa Claus.

Sarah Turner of Hingham in Norfolk is getting behind the wheel for the epic journey as Subaru links up with a local charity to help spread some Christmas cheer.

Ms Turner will hand-deliver a parcel of Christmas letters to Santa written by children who are cared for by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).” Source: Subaru Forester set for Santa Lapland visit – Carmony

2009 Subaru Forester 2.5XT Limited

Joe Lorio, Senior Editor of automobilemag.com has some great things to say about the new Subaru Forester…

“Since its debut some eighteen months ago, the redesigned Forester has been the little engine that could, powering Subaru sales to new heights despite the general collapse in auto sales, caused first by the $4-a-gallon gas panic and then Wall Street’s wrecking of the economy.

The new Forester possesses essentially the same virtues as its predecessors: compact overall size, good fuel economy, a useful cargo hold, and all-weather capability with standard all-wheel drive.” Source: 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5XT Limited – Subaru Compact SUV Review – Automobile Magazine

You couldn’t do much better than our Subaru Legacy and Outback models…

“The completely redesigned 2010 Subaru Legacy and 2010 Subaru Outback—which we’ve reported on extensively this summer—also now have the honor of being named among the safest vehicles in their class.

They’ve both been given the Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS gives the award to vehicles that both achieve the top “good” rating in the institute’s front, side, and rear crash tests and are equipped with electronic stability control.” Source: 2010 Subaru Legacy and Outback Named Top Safety Picks – The Car Connection

The second generation Mazda 6…

…is getting great reviews! Here’s one from the automotive section of the New York Times:

“But for the second-generation 6, Mazda has done just about everything right. The redesigned 2009 model stands up to the big dogs in comfort, roominess and finish, yet retains its sporty character and looks great to boot.

What’s more, the company has sweated the details — for example, it trimmed the annoyingly large turning radius down to size. The unanswered question is whether a car company that in recent years has largely marketed to the young at heart will be able to lure more affluent customers away from the tried and true competition.” Source: Behind the Wheel – 2009 Mazda 6 – Extra Room and More Zoom-Zoom – Review – NYTimes.com
